The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which claimed that the strike might be concluded in two days rather than two weeks, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari. This happened after Buhari handed his ministers an instruction stating that they had two weeks to end the strike. In a speech on Tuesday, ASUU President Professor Emmanuel Osodeke stated that the strike's protracted duration was caused by the government's failure to ratify the parties' agreement.
He claimed that all of the parties concerned can sign the deal once the government commits to it and the negotiations are ended. Osodeke continued by asserting that the strike has persisted because the children of politicians, government officials, and other influential people in the nation do not attend public colleges since they all attend school abroad. In addition, he claimed that if the government takes the necessary action, the ASUU strike can be ended in two days during an interview appearance on Channels TV.
Prof. Osodeke said that two weeks is too long for an emergency to be resolved to President Muhammadu Buhari's order to Minister of Education Adamu Adamu to resolve the ASUU crisis within two weeks.
He claimed that although the government is raising funds and spending on other matters—even those that are viewed as frivolous—because they are unaffected by the ongoing ASUU strike, the issue has been put on hold.
Two weeks is too much time. Both sides have resolved the matter of renegotiation, therefore one is no longer present. They should simply return to us and state, "We agree, sign it." It shouldn't require more than two days, he remarked.
"If there is a crisis in your home, you will look for funding to address it — just like they are looking for funding for all kinds of things."
We were informed that they spend billions on feeding students in classrooms. Is that correct? How many kids did you see getting fed? They released N200 billion for entrepreneurship programme. They allocated N200 billion for a program promoting entrepreneurship.
Two weeks is too much time. The issue of renegotiation has been completed by both sides, which means that o“Your universities are closed for five months, you did not release N100 billion, but you released money to share in villages because election is coming. It is determined by how high you value education.
As more Nigerians spend money on receiving an education abroad and fewer foreigners are expressing interest in the nation's educational system, the ASUU President emphasized the need for the government to revive the sector. See more: https://youtu.be/avALoQfPY8o
