The National Working Committee (NWC) and Senator Iyocha Ayu, the PDP's national chairman, have been urged to halt the undemocratic political cabal's ongoing diabolical efforts to impose former Delta State governorship candidate David Edevbie on the party and its members. The Coalition for Media Politics and Governance's leadership issued the demand on Thursday in an Asaba statement that was signed by the organization's Chairman, Fred Oghenesivbe Esq., Deputy Chairman Delta North, Emmanuel Momah, and Deputy Chairman Delta South, Toju Ekengbuda."The call became necessary to save the party from foreseeable disaster in the forthcoming governorship election in the state should the undemocratic cabal succeed in using their powerful allies in high places to manipulate their way to impose an unpopular Edevbie on the party," the statement said, in part. The results of the governorship primary, in which Sheriff Francis Oborevwori received 590 votes and Edevbie received 113 votes, made it quite evident that Oborevwori had a much greater level of support from the general public than Edevbie. The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, was present and closely monitored the governorship primary."Edevbie's naïve notion that he alone should be the next governor of Delta State is the basis of the diabolical campaign to sow division and disaffection inside the party.
In response to the development, Mr. Julius Akpovoka, Director of Operations for the David Edevbie Campaign Organization, chastised the party for siding with it over a court decision.
In order to avoid the predictable risk of defeat at the governorship election in 2023, we implore our affable national chairman, Senator Ayu, our party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other officials to invoke the disciplinary procedures against.
Additionally, the Delta Youth Project reaffirmed its support for the reinstatement of Oborevwori as a contender for the 2023 election. After the One Thousand Youth Solidarity March for Oborevwori, Mr. Anthony Elekeokwuri, Mr. Shedrack Rapu, and Emeka Nwaobi told our correspondent in Asaba that there was no other candidate for the election besides Oborevwori. They also asked young people to register as voters so they may cast their ballots for a trustworthy candidate in 2023.
