OAU, ABU, and coalition student unions support the NLC protest.

Students, workers, and right-leaning organizations have mostly embraced the statewide demonstration called for by the Nigerian Labour Congress. In support of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, which has been on strike since February 14, 2022, over what it called the Federal Government's alleged failure to uphold the agreement it had with the union, the NLC has scheduled the protest for Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, July 27, 2022. The Fund Education Coalition, a student organization that has been organizing students around the nation to protest the protracted strike, on Monday announced its support for the NLC action, claiming that students had been taken advantage of for too long in their desire for better education. "It is no longer news that the Nigerian students, who are citizens of the working class, have been cheated for too long by the ruling and oppressive class by permitting series of ongoing ASUU strikes and pocket-ripping school fees which have not only tarnished the bright future of many Nigerian students but also led to an increase in school dropouts and half-baked graduates," read part of a statement signed by the public relations officer of FEC, Joseph Aliu.

"FEC is advising well-intentioned Nigerian students to persevere right now. It's time to lace up our boots, roll up our sleeves, and march over to the barricades. "We are in charge of our own future. If we don't save ourselves from this educational ship that is sinking, no one else will. "Nigerian students should know that the right to an education belongs to every single one of them, and they cannot at this moment be duped by the humiliating clampdown by the government through the men-in-black on students who are only calling for a better education." It encouraged students all around the nation to take part in the NLC's massive nationwide demonstration. "Students in Nigeria should get ready to fight this educational oppression all the way to the end. To join the civil mass action organized by the NLC, scheduled for July 26 and 27, 2022, the FEC is urging its members in all states as well as all angry Nigerian students. The message ended, "Here is a struggle to finish."

Similar to this, the students' unions of the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife have endorsed the demonstration and encouraged their members nationwide to take part. In a statement issued over the weekend by the OAU Student's Union and signed by the organization's president, secretary general, and public relations officer, respectively, Olayiwola Festus, Odewale Damilare, and Ogunperi Taofeek, the union stressed the importance of students taking part in the NLC protest to make their demands for the reopening of schools known. "Great Ife kids are invited to take part in the demonstration in their local communities around the nation. The NLC State Secretariats and the Labour House in Abuja are all experiencing a convergent protest. The demonstration takes place on Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

There is little doubt that this demonstration, with widespread participation, will significantly aid us in persuading the government to take the necessary action after it failed to even honor the recommendations of the Nimi-Briggs Committee, which it established. Let's do our best and work with the NLC to improve the educational system and get everyone back in the classroom as soon as feasible. The Students' Representative Council of ABU, Zaria, also urged the university's students to participate in the NLC action in various sites. Following the publishing of the National Executive Council of the NLC, dated July 15, 2022, a declaration signed by the Secretary-General, ABU SRC, Comr. Allyu Abdulbacil Bako, dated July 23 was acquired by our correspondent. The ABU SRC leadership is taking this opportunity to urge quick student mobilization to support the NLC's mission.

"The leadership is pushing our fellow students to participate in the rally in a peaceful manner and to be good representatives of the school. Please accept our best wishes and solidarity. Buhari has ordered the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to end the ongoing ASUU strike as soon as feasible, specifically within two weeks starting on July 19, when he conducted the discussion with key government agencies. This directive follows the NLC's announcement of the statewide protest. With the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, claiming that the demonstration was unnecessary and that the FG only had issues with ASUU and not the NLC, the FG had also taken steps to dissuade the NLC's scheduled protest.

While fingers are still crossed as to what will happen leading up to and following the NLC protest, the leadership of ASUU at the state and national levels has remained unflappable in their resolve.
