Police give grieving Anambra relatives N9.1 million

A N9.1 million check was given to 15 families of fallen police officers by the Anambra State Command's Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng. On Tuesday, Usman Alkali, the Inspector-General of Police, was represented by Echeng as he handed over the check. According to him, the IGP came up with the idea as a way to support the families of police officers who passed away while on duty. He mentioned that the police chief had given identical checks to the Command in the previous three months, and those checks had been given to the recipients.

These were said in a statement given to journalists on Tuesday by Tochukwu Ikenga, state police spokesperson. According to the announcement, "The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Echeng Echen, today delivered checks totaling N9.1 million to 15 families of deceased police officers attached to the Command on behalf of the IGP, Usman Alkali. "The act is a project of the IGP family welfare insurance plan intended to help the family of police officers who passed away while performing their duties.

Additionally, the gesture aims to inspire police officers to excel as they carry out their official responsibilities by assuring them that their wellbeing is of utmost significance to the management of the Force. "The CP thanked the IGP for his tireless efforts to ensure a good welfare package for Force personnel while handing out the checks to the recipients. He also urged them to use the money wisely by investing in a successful business that will, in turn, better meet the needs of the dependents who were left behind.

The CP also gives the IGP his word that the soldiers of the Command will keep doing everything in their power to maintain Anambra State's safety, security, and peace. The family expressed gratitude to the IGP and promised to spend the funds wisely.
