Akeredolu: It's not required that teachers' kids attend public schools.

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has denied a claim attributed to Mr. Victor Olabimtan, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, that teachers in the state are required to enroll their kids in public schools. In a media report, Olabimtan criticized the behavior of certain instructors who sent their biological children to private schools and said that it had become unlawful for teachers at public schools to send their wards to such institutions. "Teachers will now be held accountable for any decline in primary school enrollment," he declared. However, the governor said there was no such regulation requiring teachers to enroll their wards in public schools in a statement released on Sunday by his chief press secretary, Mr. Richard Olatunde. The letter further stated that instructors were free to enroll their kids in any school of their choosing, including private schools, in the state. The message said, "Our attention has been called to a news report with the headline above that is going around, notably on social media. It is crucial to educate the public and provide clarification on the assertion attributed to Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Chairman of SUBEB. "There is no question that the Ondo State Government, led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has invested heavily in the state's education system, particularly in primary and secondary schools. Universities and colleges are included. The corruption that existed in the state's public schools before Akeredolu's administration took office is quickly dissipating. The majority of the institutions have seen an increase in student enrollment as a result of this.

"Under the Akeredolu administration, more than 800 public elementary schools were rebuilt and remodeled with playground equipment, a perimeter fence, and an information and communications technology center. The Akeredolu administration recently acquired modern desks and seats for the students. Additionally, more than 1000 new teachers for the public primary schools have just been hired by Governor Akeredolu. For the sake of boosting their students' self-confidence, teachers in public schools were morally exhorted to enroll their kids there. As a result, enrollment will rise, which will further motivate the government to invest in public schools. In conclusion, neither a policy nor a legislation in Ondo State prohibits government employees—including teachers—from enrolling their children in any school. There is always a place for moral responsibility, though. As a result, instructors are free to enroll their children at any school of their choosing. However, for instructors who are proud of their work and lessons to enroll their children in a private school would be morally incorrect. The statement went on to say that Akeredolu would keep putting education first and working to improve it in the interest of the state's citizens as a whole.
