Atiku and Okowa's "Atikowa Movement" is launched by the Delta group

Prior to the 2023 general election, a group of young people from Delta State launched the "Atikowa Movement," a political movement to garner support from the general public for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate. On Friday in Abuja, just after the official launch of the Atiku/Okowa Movement, the group, led by Oke Umurhohwo, met with the former vice president Atiku. During that meeting, Umurhohwo gave Atiku the assurance that the group would mobilize grassroots votes. The group urged Nigerians to successfully use their Personal Voter Cards to defeat the current administration, which it criticized as being aimless and pointed out that "the Atiku/Okowa coalition will provide great hope of turning around the fate of Nigerians."

According to Umurhohwo, "Considering his choice of running-mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Atiku's policy document was a profound statement that he is prepared to fix Nigeria. For this reason, the Atikowa Movement is taking steps to actualize this lofty goal, and in the coming days, we will start an ambitious effort to mobilize voters at the grassroots. "Our goal is for Nigeria to have a president who can solve problems, treat all Nigerians equally, and not someone who bases decisions on ethnicity or religion; a president who will listen to Nigerians instead of only doing so to further his or her own ambition or avarice." The PDP presidential candidate responded by praising the founders of the "Atikowa Movement," saying he was glad to see young Nigerians take such a brave step to alter the country's political narratives and that he was the finest candidate to carry the nation to greatness.
