For the Anambra Assembly, APGA has declared a three-day fast.

Victor Oye, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, has urged all party members in Nigeria and the Diaspora to fervently pray for the Anambra State House of Assembly, asking that God's mercy stop the death's hand from striking the House, which has claimed the lives of two of its members in the past three months. The House Majority Leader, Nnamdi Okafor, was said to have passed away at a legislative retreat in South Africa on Wednesday, according to social media reports. In the wee hours of Wednesday, the politician collapsed and passed away in a hotel in Sandton City, Johannesburg, South Africa. His death was later verified. Before his passing, Okafor, also known as Akajiugo Awka, served as the state Assembly's representative for the Awka South Constituency 1.

Dr. Oye invited all members to begin a three-day fast and prayer for harmony, progress, and development in the House and inside the party before the 2023 elections in a press release on Thursday. The statement paraphrased Oye as stating, "The times in which we have found ourselves are perilous and need for daily prayer, self-examination, and penance." He urged the Anambra State House of Assembly's leadership to participate in the fasting and prayer because "I see God doing something new in the House shortly." He took use of the occasion to express his condolences to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, and, in fact, all of the House's members on the tragic passing of the Majority Leader, Hon. Nnamdi Okafor, in distant South Africa. He asked God to grant the deceased's soul eternal rest in heaven.
