Gombe: Six extension requests, three missing corps members

On Thursday, the National Youth Service Corps in Gombe State reported that six other corps members had received extensions as a result of various offenses while three had vanished. During the low-key ceremony for the program, which was presided over by officials from the State Secretariat, the State Coordinator, Ada Imoni, made this disclosure in a speech given across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State. Our correspondent claims that 445 corps members from the 2021 batch B stream II have finished their duty in Gombe State after being dispersed among its 11 LGAs in both private and public Place of Primary Assignments. The 445 ex-corps members were praised by Imoni, who also asked them to uphold the NYSC's values by serving as excellent representatives of the Scheme as they entered their subsequent phases of life.

445 Corps members are scheduled to graduate today in Gombe State, of which three absconded from duty and six received service extensions due to various offenses committed, according to Imoni. She said that in order to be entrepreneurs and employers of labor, people should establish firms using the skills they have obtained via the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, and she added that they shouldn't hate on little beginnings. Imoni stated, "In order to give Corps members the skills they need for independence and to supplement the allowance paid by the Federal Government, the NYSC developed the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme in 2012.

"I think you've been trained and polished for the next stage of your existence. It's past time for us to stop relying on the government for white-collar jobs and start figuring out how to support ourselves. As you begin the next stage of your lives, uphold the principles of the plan, Imoni urged.
