A woman who goes by the name Bimbo and resides in Osogbo, Osun State, has described her experience with alleged kidnappers who allegedly took her when she was traveling from one area of the city to another. Bimbo claimed in a popular video she boarded a commercial motorcycle headed to Ayetoro, Osogbo, but that she was afterwards joined by another male passenger, who sat at her back. Bimbo claimed that the rider of the motorcycle turned away from Ayetoro and instead traveled via the Oja Oba neighborhood in the direction of the Osogbo/Ilesa Road. The woman claimed that the male passenger threatened to murder her if she raised the alarm when she objected that the motorcycle was not traveling in the direction of Ayetoro Road.

Later, I was driven to a location where a minibus was waiting with some passengers already inside, and I was thrown inside the bus. The bus halted just before we arrived in Ilesa as it was traveling that way. Our kidnappers pulled out a charm and stroked everyone's heads with it before saying that I wouldn't be useful to them. They forced me into the forest after taking the money I was carrying. I was shoved, but I was able to crawl back to the road and get on a car headed toward Osogbo," she continued. In a statement in response to the incident, the state's commissioner for information and civic education, Funke Egbemode, said that criminals had entered the ranks of commercial transport providers in the state. She urged locals to move around with greater security in mind and to stay away from motorcyclists, minibuses, and buses without license plates.
