Adegboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State, has proclaimed Monday of the following week a public holiday in honor of the annual "ISESE Day" event that took place this year. This was said in a statement issued by the state's Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Commissioner for Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus, which was acquired in Osogbo on Friday. According to the statement, the approval was given in commemoration of the day designated each year by adherents of traditional religions to commemorate the Isese Festival in the state. "The governor has commanded that this year's Isese Day be observed responsibly and with security consciousness," it said. "This year's subject is "Abalaye adulawo ati ipaniyan s'owo; nje ajosepo wa bi?" (African tradition and ritual killing; any connection? The governor praised those who practice traditional religions across the state, but he also urged people to follow the law and conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the celebration. He also urged them to pray for the expansion and development of Nigeria in general and the state specifically. Oyetola emphasized the importance of the people of Osun continuing to embrace the Omoluabi ethos in their day-to-day activities as he pleaded with them to continue supporting his administration.
