Running mate disputes defection of Zamfara PDP governor candidate

Malam Mani, the People's Democratic Party's nominee for deputy governor in Zamfara State, has refuted rumors that Dauda Lawal Dare, the party's nominee in the state, was defecting to the All Progressives Congress. Speaking to reporters in Gusau on Sunday, Mani claimed that there was not a shred of truth in the alleged account. "Dauda Lawal Dare has never dreamt of defecting to APC," the speaker said. He insisted that it was a complete fabrication spread by a group of troublemakers who duped the populace. "Dauda has no intention whatsoever of joining the PDP and will run for governor in 2023 and win on the PDP's platform."

Mani stated, "Individuals who are circulating the rumors about Dauda's defection to the APC are those who are uncomfortable with this being more well-known. He emphasized that Dauda was still in the running and that he would pursue the matter until, by God's help, he eventually won the election. Given the high number of persons defecting to the PDP from the APC and other parties on a daily basis, Mani expressed confidence that the PDP would win Zamfara State.
In order to prevent the state from completely disintegrating owing to ongoing security issues, he urged the residents to support Lawal Dare's candidacy.
