Chief Oye Oke, the chairman of the Ila-Orangun Community Development Council, an organization that represents all town residents, stated on Friday that it would be difficult to fill the void left by Balogun's passing. The late Balogun gave several natives of Ila opportunities to join the police force, according to Chief Oke. This was in addition to introducing the Police Training College to the town. Oke, who is also the Saloro of Ila, hailed the former IGP as a modest man who treated followers of all local religions equally.
It is quite painful, he remarked. All of us who are natives of the Ila people, whether at home and abroad, are devastated. This community has lost a lot as a result. He was a renowned native, not just for people but for the whole community. In this community, he did well for us. The majority of people he reported to the police are now in good standing.
