Three suspected cultists have been detained by members of the Delta State Police Command's Quick Response Squad, and four live rounds and a locally made cut-to-size gun have been found among the thugs. On August 5, 2022, at around 1:45 pm, while doing a stop and search along Pessu Corner in Warri, the authorities stopped a tricycle carrying three people, according to information shared on social media. The police said in a statement on Wednesday that after checking the occupants, they found one locally made cut-to-size gun and four live cartridges. The policemen quickly apprehended the three culprits, Chukwuma Owoh (m), age 26, Ediri Ogendengbe (m), age 32, and Alfred Kess (m), age 38.
Chukwuma Owoh, one of the suspects, admitted that he purchased the firearm from a Haruna in the Hausa market in Warri and that he was traveling to Pessu in search of the Aiye Confraternity cult members who had attacked his younger sister. The statement said, "The suspects are currently in custody and the investigation is underway." The State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Ali, commented on the arrest and asked officers and members of the Command to keep up the pace. Additionally, he warned them against being impolite or disrespectful to bystanders while on duty and warned that such behavior would not be permitted while under his supervision.
