Two female youngsters who had been taken hostage by bandits have been freed by Zamfara State Police Command agents. Ubaida Hassan, 12, and Umaima Jamilu, 10, were freed on Saturday after spending three weeks in captivity, according to a statement sent to our reporter by Mohammed Shehu, the command's spokeswoman. According to the statement, "On August 20, 2022, while on a confidence-building patrol along Nya Mango in Bungudu LGA, Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command acted on intelligence reports that resulted in the unconditional rescue of two female hostages, namely Ubaida Hassan, 12, and Umaima Jamilu, 10, of Gidan Liman village in Kekun Waje district of Bungudu LGA.
"After an attack on the village on July 15, 2022, armed bandits or terrorists kidnapped the victims who were saved unharmed. At General Hospital Bungudu, victims received medical attention before being debriefed by police and sent to their relatives. While reminding the public of its dedication to protecting lives and property, the command congratulates the victims on regaining their freedom and further exhorts everyone to practice security awareness and report any suspicious individuals to the police or other security agency for swift action.
