Wike can't endanger the PDP, according to Ologbondiyan

Kola Ologbondiyan, the former national publicity secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party, downplayed on Wednesday worries that Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, may join a coalition that would harm PDP's chances in the 2023 presidential election. He asserted that Wike was more politically astute to mingle with opposition groups and forge an alliance that might have an impact on the electoral prospects of the PDP in the upcoming presidential election. During an appearance on "The Morning Show" on Arise TV, Ologbondiyan gave the promise. He continued by saying that the party was desperately trying to straighten out its house and deal with its internal crisis. When questioned about Wike's interactions with lawmakers from the opposing side, Ologbondiyan stated the governor was free to do so as long as it was legal. "I am aware of this and think that Governor Nyesom Wike is more shrewd politically to go and invest his own political apparatus' life in a deal that will prevent its candidates from winning elections. I am confident that he won't act in such a way since I know he won't. "I am aware that Governor Samuel Ortom is running for Senate in Benue and that the elections for both the Senate and the President will take place on the same day and at the same time. "I am aware of Governor Ikpeazu's desire in becoming a senator. Do you really believe that they would act as politicians and distribute that to a party whose performance they have no faith in? I'm confident that's not how politicians operate, according to the former PDP spokesman.

"He (Wike) is free to hang out with them" (opposition politicians). We won't know Governor Wike has left the party until he chooses to join the APC or another political party. He continues to be a PDP member in the interim. "How we will win the election in 2023 is what matters to us as a party. How we would relieve Nigerians of the load of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari is crucial to us as a party, Ologbondiyan continued. Well, there is so much public panic over what Governor Wike is doing; how PDP will survive and all that," he continued. However, there are some aspects of politics that you might observe that barely cross your borders. "Because there are interests that are more powerful than what the general public sees. First, what oddity can be seen in Governor Wike's invitation of representatives from the rival political parties to commission projects? He has been doing that, and I remember him once inviting Senators Ali Ndume and Rochas Okorocha. In each of these cases, there was no question about whether Governor Wike would join the APC.

"At the time, it was discussed that he was attempting to get these individuals to join the PDP. Therefore, he has not deviated significantly from his previous behavior. Having said that, you mentioned how Peter Obi visited Rivers State and socialized with Wike and PDP governors. However, it is important to remember that Peter Odili had just celebrated his 74th birthday, so it is not abnormal. And it won't come as a surprise if Peter Obi decides to meet with Wike on his own because he (Peter Obi) needs votes and
is free to approach anyone. When seeking votes, politicians act in that manner.
