A Lagos state teacher who was caught touching a student breast has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment

 Idowu Daniel, a 31-year-old teacher, was found guilty of sexually abusing a 16-year-old student inside a school on Monday and was given a seven-year prison sentence by the Ikeja Special Offenses Court. The defendant was accused of defilement. Because the victim neglected to appear in court to provide a testimony, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charge of defilement against the convicted person. She claimed that the defendant's voluntary confessional admission demonstrated that he sexually molested the kid. The defendant acknowledged touching the victim's breast twice and attempting to have sex with her, but was unsuccessful since she was a virgin. She declared, "The defendant is hereby found guilty of the accusation of sexual assault of a child." When asked whether he had anything to say, the criminal begged for forgiveness in his allocutous. "My Lord, I sincerely apologize for what occurred. I swear it won't happen again," the convicted person assured the judge.

The judge also chastised the defendant for caressing the victim in a provocative manner, saying that if the child had spoken in court, the defendant would have received a life sentence. "You are a teacher, and you touched your student's breast. If the victim had appeared in court to testify, the judge would have sentenced you to life in jail. Despite having previously sentenced the defendant to five years in prison, Justice Taiwo raised his sentence to seven years in prison without the possibility of a fine after noting that he had been detained for three years. The defendant, who resides in Lagos' Abule-Egba neighborhood, was found guilty of defiling. When he committed the crime on June 27, 2019, at 9.25 a.m., Daniel was 28 years old. In the biology lab at Anastasia Comprehensive College, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, he had illicit carnal knowledge of his student. In Kirikiri Prisons, he was placed on remand sometime in July 2019 by Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat.
