Customs detain a suspect and seize 20,600 liters of PMS.

The Nigeria Customs Service's Kebbi Area command said that in August, it detained one suspect, seized 824 jerrycans of Petroleum Motor Spirit, or 20,600 liters, and other contraband worth N61 million. According to Nasiru Managa, the command's public relations officer, 389 wraps of Cannabis sativa were also found within the time period under consideration. The apprehended suspect has been released on administrative bail, according to the statement. Among other things, there were 389 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, 824 jerrycans of PMS totaling 20, 600 liters, 75 bags of fertilizer (23 bags of 50 kg and 52 bags of 25 kg, respectively), 128 bales of used clothing, 22 jerrycans of vegetables (25 liters each), a used Toyota Corolla, 54 bags of sugar (each weighing 50 kg), and 8 local canoes.

According to the statement from the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Comptroller Joseph Attah, although other seizures have economic repercussions, Cannabis Sativa seizures have serious security and health effects that are best imagined rather than experienced. Attah declared, "We remain unwavering in our resolve to force criminal transnational trade entities to submit to this command. We keep urging the business community to do cross-border transactions using the newly opened Kamba border. Apart from Kamba, it is still unlawful to cross any other border in Kebbi State with cargo because the Federal Government's policy on border closure is still in effect. He asserts that people indicating to smugglers is the new problem anti-smuggling agents in this Command are dealing with.
