Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun and who was born on July 16, 1990, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. The Glorious Five (5), a group he and a few of his church buddies founded, published a joint CD with him when he was 11 years old. He started recording music at that age. In 2009, Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment and Wizkid agreed to a record deal (E.M.E). The lead song off his debut studio album, Superstar (2011), which also produced the singles "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull," "Holla at Your Boy," brought him into the spotlight later. His second studio album, Ayo, which he self-titled, was released in September 2014. Six singles were released in support of the album, one of which was "Jaiye Jaiye." After his contract with E.M.E expired, Wizkid departed. Following his collaboration with Drake on the hit song "One Dance," which topped the charts in 14 more nations in addition to the US Billboard Hot 100, Wizkid gained popularity on a global scale in 2016. Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to be listed in the Guinness World Records after the song smashed numerous records. He signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records in March 2017, and later that year, his third studio album, Sounds from the Other Side, was published. Five singles were released to promote the album, one of which was "Come Closer" with Drake.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a. Wizkid, was born in Surulere, Lagos, on July 16, 1990. Twelve sister siblings and an interfaith family made up his upbringing. His father follows Islam, but his mother is a Pentecostal Christian. Ijebu Ode Grammar School was where Wizkid studied. He was raised on the music of Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, and King Sunny Ade. He stated "his father has three wives" in a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood. Wizkid discussed the formation of the Glorious Five with a few of his church buddies in another interview with Adesope of Factory 78 TV. They succeeded in putting out an album before breaking up. Lil Prinz was Wizkid's stage moniker up until 2006. A record producer named OJB Jezreel whom he later met forbade him from recording for a year. He frequently went to OJB's Point Beat Studios where he saw 2 Face Idibia work on the tracks for his Grass 2 Grace album. He also attended the recording sessions for Sound Sultan's self-titled debut album. When he was 15 years old, one of the mentors and coaches he mentioned was Naeto C. Empire Mates Entertainment and Wizkid signed a record deal in 2009. "Omoge You Too Much," a song from Banky W's The W Experience album, was co-written by him. Along the way, he collaborated with Naeto C, Ikechukwu, and M.I. Midway through 2009, he left Lagos State University (LASU). Later, he enrolled in Lead City University but left after just two sessions.

According to a 2011 article in Nigerian Entertainment Today, the singer gave birth to his first child when he was 21 years old. The newspaper decided Wizkid had pregnant Sola Ogudugu, a then-undergraduate student, after conducting a thorough investigation. Due to the fact that DNA results were still waiting when the rumor first surfaced, Wizkid's close friends and associates declined to confirm it. In various interviews, Wizkid broke his silence over the occurrence. He denied having children in a chat with a Nigerian Entertainment Today editor. He stated in a different interview that was held in Ogudu-GRA, Lagos, that he truly did not intend to find himself in such an odd circumstance. Wizkid refuted the baby issue in an interview with Nonye Ben-Nwankwo of The Punch in December 2012. He posted a photo of himself and his 2-year-old son, Boluwatife Balogun, to his Instagram account in October 2013. The image supported the 2011 story.

With three different ladies, Wizkid has fathered three sons. The babies arrived in the years 2011, 2016, and 2017.
