John Ikechukwu Ewa, also known as John Lyon, and three other members of his gang, who have amassed over 200 million naira in ransom, have been paraded by the Bayelsa State Police command. The Bayelsa police commissioner Benjamin Okolo paraded the suspects before reporters on Monday and claimed they were accountable for the majority of high-profile kidnappings that had occurred in the state.
The suspects, Emmanuel Charles, John Ikechukwu Ewa, and two others, are suspected of being behind the kidnapping of a number of people, including two new generation bank managers. In addition to assuring Bayelsans of their safety, the head of the State Police issued a warning to anyone with criminal tendencies to leave the state. John Ikechukwu Ewa and Emmanuel Charles, two kidnapping masterminds, admitted that they were involved in the state's high-profile celebrity's kidnapping. In addition, two cars were retrieved from the kidnappers, and further individuals were paraded for cultism, murder, illegal firearm possession, and armed robbery.
Millionaire John Lyon is a reputed kidnapper from Bayelsa who is based in Abuja. He used to work for Sterling Bank. He dissimulates his illegal criminal operations by going by the moniker Lyon Interior. John Lyon worked for Sterling Bank in the past. He is accused of using the moniker Lyon internal hub to hide his extensive kidnapping activities.
The alleged kidnapper states that he is a University of Calabar graduate. He recently took part in the kidnapping of one Danjuma, a bank employee, and successfully demanded over 50 million naira from the victim's captors.
