Social media users' reactions to the arrest of well-known artist Ice Prince by the Lagos State Police Command have been conflicted. The musician, who is presently trending as the top user on Twitter, seemed to have some support from his followers as many of them approached the police to hear the singer's side of the story. However, some people insisted that Ice Prince was subject to the law. The 'Oleku' singer was reportedly detained early on Friday for allegedly assaulting a police officer, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's public relations officer. Here are a few tweets we picked up from Twitter:

"I can believe that Ice Prince is driving without a license plate. Without any proof, I find it hard to accept that he assaulted a police officer in Lagos at 3 in the morning, says @snrmanOA.
If you've ever gotten into a fight with the police, especially in Lagos, you'd understand why it's so difficult to believe, he continued. How did a person without arms kidnap an armed police officer, @drpenking asked? I would still love to hear Ice Prince's side of the tale. Why was the police officer alone himself? How about his coworkers? Some facts do not add up.
"Ice Prince was apprehended by Nigerian police for harassing one of their officers in less than eight hours, but it will take them a lifetime to act when a regular Nigerian is being harassed by the police because Naija police don't understand innocent until proven guilty and treat every suspect as a criminal. Have you ever observed how American police approach suspects in order to question them or make an arrest? The procedure is always simple, easy, and without any aggression. As if you had just robbed the Central Bank of Nigeria, the cops will attack you here if you do a routine stop and search, very embarrassing, tweeted @Tee Classiquem1.
My heart is with Ice Prince, stated @JoeyAkan.
You won't believe anything the Nigerian police officers say if you know how they deceive and trap you when things don't go their way, especially when they sense an opportunity to pursue public sympathy by playing the populace's victims. I still don't trust y'all Nigerian cops, tweeted @JdiBobby in response to someone asking if he trusted the police. Speaking from experience, if someone doesn't play your game by paying you a bribe, you guys may say and do anything. I'm going to wait for Ice Prince @Iceprincezamani. to talk. I don't trust you guys. @Nsukka_ Okpa discussed the reason the singer appeared to be searching in the photograph posted by Hundeyin. "You'll understand why Ice Prince was staring that way if you've ever been at a police counter. the insults they hurl at you and the light smack you'll receive He tweeted in pidgin, "Your face go don swell up before lawyer show. @SirDavidBent tweeted, "Ice Prince abducted a police officer and threatened to throw that same cop into a river. Being famous doesn't make you above the law. He has been detained and will now face a number of criminal charges.
"Just because you're famous, doesn't mean you're above the law. He might spend some time in jail in the end. @Mbahdeyfor We don't hear the police side of the story, and Ice Prince isn't doing any good, you remarked. What was Ice Prince thinking, asked @iSlimfit? Instead of getting himself into this embarrassing situation, he might have at least phoned one of his connections in the police to help him out. He will now serve as the scapegoat. "Look at how quickly police apprehended Ice Prince and posted on Twitter, the same police who will take three days to respond to our tags here over police abuse," tweeted @mogsteady.
The musician would be arraigned today, according to the police.

We have access to horrifying accounts of police brutality, willful abuse of authority, and extortion on this same app, yet we instinctively agree that Ice Prince kidnapped an armed police officer, stated @ddannykeyz. There is a brain drain.
