In Imo, the army kills two IPOB fighters.

The killing of two IPB fighters along the Eke Ututu-Ihitte Nansa Road in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State was verified by the Nigerian Army on Wednesday. In a statement, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of army public relations, said that the soldiers killed the ESN members as the insurgents prepared to conduct a rocket launcher attack on the Imo State settlements of Orsu Ihitte Ukwa and Ihitte Nansa. He said that members of the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, and other security personnel in the state worked together to carry out the operation. The following was part of the statement: "On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, along Eke Ututu - Ihitte Nansa Road, in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, troops of Headquarters 82 Division Nigerian Army, made up of troops of 34 Artillery Brigade, in conjunction with troops of the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies, neutralized two combatants of the prohibited Indigenous People of Biafra and its militant wing, Eastern Security Network

"While conducting a raid operation at Orsu Ihitte Ukwa and Ihitte Nansa, the forces came across the dissidents. The defeated members were positioned to fire a rocket from one of their prepared launchers when they were engaged and killed by the watchful forces. Nwachukwu claimed that some of the market's stores were destroyed by explosives set off by the thieves. He claimed, "The fearless troops were unharmed as the irredentists' improvised explosive devices exploded in Eke Ututu Market, destroying some of the market's shops." Since protesters frequently ambush troops with explosives and weapons while they are on routine patrol, the Eke Ututu market has recently turned into a flashpoint. A number of improvised explosive devices that had been placed along the road as well as locally made rocket launchers were found after the incident by the explosive ordnance device team.
