Police in Ebonyi detain an alleged serial rapist

 In Abakaliki, the state capital, the Ebonyi State Police Command has detained a serial rapist who is known for assaulting and robbing his victims. Miracle Onwe, a 19-year-old suspect whose hometown is Ezzamgbo in the state's Ohaukwu Local Government Area, is his given name. This was said during a briefing on Friday at the C Division of the police command by SP Chris Anyanwu, the police public relations officer. Anyanwu claimed that the perpetrator was apprehended after his most recent victim raised the alarm following their sexual encounter in a farmyard. On August 19, 2022, at around 1700 hours, Ruth Nwizi, a 22-year-old woman, was working as a farmer in Aboffia Village, Ebonyi LGA, Ebonyi State, when a young guy suddenly burst through the back and attacked her.

Ruth was forced to the ground and had carnal knowledge of without her consent by the culprit, who was later identified as Miracle Onwe, a 19-year-old native of Ezzamgbo in the Ohaukwu LGA. Mr. Anyawu stated. He added that the suspect fled after robbing her of her Infinix Smart 5 phone, which was worth $45,000. The suspect then dove into a nearby river with the phone when the girl raised the alarm, drawing the attention of onlookers who chased after him, the DPO C Division Ekumenyi, SP Mustapha Waheed continued, "On receiving the information, swung into action with his detectives, cordoned off the area leading to the arrest of the suspect.

"He made a confession. Both the victim and the suspect were brought to FETHA for testing and post-exposure prophylaxis, respectively. The girl was in fact raped, according to a medical report that FETHA officially released. He claims that the suspect would appear before the relevant court in Ebonyi State and be charged with rape and robbery. He also noted that the suspect had a history of harassing young females in the neighborhood. "At this point, it's important to note that the suspect attempted to rape a young girl earlier this year, forcingly grabbing her while he was accompanied by two of her friends. But as soon as he began to defile the little girl by stripping her, nearby residents pursued him, and he jumped into the same river. The suspect admitted to raping the victim and trying to rape a kid earlier in the year; this has been his method of operation. Miss Ruth, the victim, begged that justice be served after recounting her trauma.
