Tobi Amusan receives a national accolade from President Buhari.

Muhammadu Buhari, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, presents Tobi Amusan with a national award.

This happened after the hurdler's gold medal victory in the Birmingham-hosted 2022 Common Wealth Games.

Amusan finished in 12.30 seconds, breaking the previous Games record, and earning Nigeria its tenth gold medal. Amusan's attempt to break the Games Record in the semifinal was prevented by a 2.4 m/s tailwind.

Tobi Amusan received a national at a gathering called Team Nigeria Continentals to commemorate the nation's triumph in the 2022 Common Wealth Games and World Athletic Championship.

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide "Tobi" Amusan, a Nigerian track and field athlete who specializes in the 100-meter hurdles and also competes as a sprinter, was born on April 23, 1997. She holds the record in all three championships and is now the African, Commonwealth, and World Champion in the 100-meter hurdles. She won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, becoming the first Nigerian to win a world championship in an athletic event. She set a new world record in the semifinal with a time of 12.12 seconds and won the competition with a time of 12.06 seconds with the aid of the wind. In the 100-meter hurdles, she won consecutive African and Commonwealth championships in 2018 and 2022. She also won the competition twice at the African Games. She became the first Nigerian to win the Diamond League Trophy in the 100-meter hurdles event in Zurich in 2021, beating Glory Alozie's previous African Record in the process.

Tobi Amusan was born on April 23, 1997, to schoolteacher Mr. and Mrs. Amusan in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Her name is Tobi, and she is the youngest of three siblings. [10] She attended Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, for her secondary education.

Amusan was a gifted athlete from an early age. At the 2013 African Youth Championships in Warri, she won a silver medal. She also won gold in the 100-meter hurdles event at the Addis Abeba 2015 African Junior Athletics Championships. In 2015, she won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles while making her All-Africa Games debut at the age of eighteen.

After two consecutive fourth-place results, Amusan entered the 2022 World Athletics Championships as a medal hopeful. She broke her previous record by 0.01s during the heats, with a 12.40-second African record. She established a new world record of 12.12s during the semifinal. She improved upon her previous mark once more in the final, clocking a time of 12.06 seconds (2.5 m/s wind assisted, not a legitimate world record), becoming the first Nigerian to win the World Athletics Championships.
