Twitter starts testing the edit button feature

After months of openly discussing such a change, Twitter announced on Thursday that it has started actively testing an edit button. The "Edit Tweet" pilot will start with internal staff members before being opened up to users who have "Twitter Blue" subscriptions, according to the business. The business wrote on its site, "Edit Tweet is a tool that lets consumers make adjustments to their Tweet after it's been published. "Think of it as a brief window of time to add missing tags, fix typos, and other things."

Users might make "a few" edits to a tweet under the modification under study within 30 minutes of the tweet's initial publishing, the firm said. This would "help safeguard the integrity of the dialogue and create a publicly accessible record of what was said." Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the person who is currently suing Twitter over a prospective acquisition of the microblogging site, had supported the addition of an edit button just before the business announced in April that it was looking into the change. Twitter Blue subscribers "get early access to features and help us test them before they arrive to Twitter," according to the business. Twitter Blue is a subscription service that is currently offered in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Twitter stated that the change will make tweeting "feel more approachable and less stressful." "We'll keep working on ways to make it feel effortless to do precisely that, so you should be able to join in the conversation in a way that makes sense to you. A spokeswoman for Twitter, however, clarified that not all users on the network would necessarily be subject to the test.
