Varsities' resuming order is rejected by ASUU, who asserts that the strike remains unabated.

In the midst of the seven-month strike, the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday rejected summons from university administration ordering students to attend courses. The organization claimed that because those institutions were still secured, its strike was unaffected. Dr. Chris Piwuna, former branch chairman at the University of Jos and vice president of ASUU. He was responding to Ralph Njoku, the Imo State University, Owerri's public relations officer, who had announced that the university had left the ASUU nationwide strike and had instructed both students and staff to go to class on Tuesday, September 20, despite the university's decision. He claimed that IMSU made the decision to end the ongoing strike in the best interests of the faculty and personnel at the university. “Yes. It is real. We've told the pupils to get back to work right away. Tuesday is the start of classes. For the benefit of our students and employees, we are taking this action. Not only are we ending the ASUU strike, but we are also requesting that everyone go back to school, the man said. However, Piwuna made fun of the universities, claiming that ASUU will not be moved.

I don't understand why these folks would never learn their lesson, he remarked. Is the university's PRO a part of our union? Has he been given permission to speak for our members? Before beginning the activity, did we consult with him or his VC (Vice Chancellor)? They are unstoppable trespassers."Let's hear from the head of our branch. They shouldn't squander our students' and parents' time. "They expressed the same sentiments about Kaduna State University, Yobe State University, Gombe State University, and the others. These institutions continue to be secured. Our strike will not be stopped. Our people are still tenacious and unwavering in their commitment to saving our public universities from neo-liberal and neo-colonialist control.
