
Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has reiterated the Nigerian Army's commitment to educating its personnel to uphold peace and calm in the nation. Speaking at the opening of the 2022 Nigerian Army's Second Commanding Officer's workshop at the Gingiya Barracks in Sokoto, the Army Chief stressed the need of staff training and retraining for success. Yahaya added that doing so would assist in educating cops about international best practices. He gave the assurance that the Nigerian Army was working around the clock to make sure that residents of Nigeria were protected. "Training activities must adhere to accepted best practices in every aspect. Priority will be given to obtaining the needed professional qualifications in order to address the numerous security issues the nation is currently facing. "Therefore, it is my expectation that the workshop will go a long way toward reorienting the mindset of our troops to the best means of providing real solutions to the current security concerns facing our nation," "Equipment Maintenance and Operational Efficiency: The Role of Operational and Tactical Level Commanders in the Nigerian Army as well as Sister Services Through Interagency Corporation" was the theme of the second 2022 workshop. The General Officer Commander, 8 Division, Major Uwem Bassey, urged attendees to use their wealth of knowledge to find a long-term solution to the nation's insecurity earlier in his welcome speech at the five-day training. The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, also spoke in his message of goodwill and praised the Nigerian Army for their selfless service to the country. The former top army commander Sultan said, "Once a General, always a General. I always feel at home among my colleagues. They are making every effort, and we will keep praying for them.
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State, promised in his speech that the state will maintain positive ties with all of the state's security organizations, not just the Nigerian Army. He urged the President, Major General Muhammad Buhari (ret. ), to prioritize the difficulties the Army faces by giving them greater equipment to assist them in carrying out their constitutional obligations. However, he advised them to focus on maintaining the current ones because doing so would assist the nation combat strategic uncertainties, in his words. Tambuwal contends that empowering the army will not only improve troops' morale for efficient service delivery but will also strengthen inter-agency relationships, which are essential to their pursuit of and passion for establishing peace in the nation. The Nigerian Army, according to Tambuwal, also needs more equipment, training, and retraining on how to maintain it. He claimed that maintenance was crucial in all human endeavors, but particularly so when it came to equipment as complex and crucial as that used by the soldiers and security personnel.
