Comedian Basketmouth reveals a new name as the election draws near.

Because of the approaching elections in 2023, Bright Okpocha, often known as Basketmouth, has declared a name change.

The comedian and creative took to Instagram to reveal the information and explain his choice.

Politicians will start "talking anyhow" as the campaign season gets underway, according to Basketmouth, earning him the nickname "basketmouth."

As a result, he has made the decision to go by the name "Onyekwere" till the elections are over.

Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage moniker Basketmouth, is a Nigerian actor and comedian who was born on September 14, 1978, in Lagos State. Around the world, he has planned well-attended stand-up comedy shows including Basketmouth Uncensored.

After a young fan shared a video of Basketmouth discussing inappropriate things about sex with a youngster in close view, the #TwoThingsChallenge, a comedy contest he conducted on Instagram, infuriated supporters.

Despite being a native of Nigeria's Abia State, Bright Okpocha was born in Lagos State. After completing his elementary and secondary education in Apapa, Lagos, he enrolled in the University of Benin in Edo State to pursue a degree in sociology and anthropology. In 1991, he realized his talent for drumming, and in 1994, he started rapping. In 1995, he created a group called "Da Psychophats" with seven other people. They began performing live and rapping, but they disbanded before putting any music out. He later went on to join another rap group called "Da Oddz" with his brother Godwin and Muyiwa Ola-Phillips. They put on a few performances but failed to gain traction because their style of rap was not widely recognized in Nigeria

After finishing his primary and secondary schooling in Apapa (Lagos, Nigeria), Bright went on to the University of Benin to pursue his degree in sociology and anthropology alongside his brother Godwin.

He was "Ghana Jollof's" producer.
