David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on November 21, 1992. His music fuses worldwide pop with traditional African themes.

Following the release of "Dami Duro," the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo, Davido earned the Next Rated award at The Headies in 2012 (2012). He recorded several successful singles between 2013 and 2015, and in January 2016, he agreed to a record deal with Sony Music. He subsequently established the record company Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), which has signed artists like Mayorkun, Liya, Peruzzi, and Dremo. Davido and Sony's RCA Records inked a record deal in July 2016. His five-track EP Son of Mercy, which included the singles "Gbagbe Oshi," "How Long," and "Coolest Kid in Africa," was released in October 2016. Due to problems with creative autonomy, Davido renegotiated his contract with Sony in April 2017. Later that year, he released five songs, including "If" and "Fall." While "Fall" became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history, "If" sparked global social media engagement. Davido is renowned for being dubbed "The king of current afrobeats."

In November 2019, Davido released his second studio album A Good Time, which was promoted by singles including "Blow My Mind" with well-known American singer Chris Brown. In 2019, New African magazine listed Davido as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans. On Friday, November 13, 2020, he released his third studio album, titled A Better Time.

The afrobeat singer Davido requested on his Instagram story that his coworkers gift him each one million naira in advance of his birthday on November 21, 2021. Davido mentioned receiving N200 million from supporters and friends, to which he added N50 million. He gave all orphanages in Nigeria N250 million. This was said by the singer in a statement before the birthday. He established a five-person team to handle the practicalities of the money distribution.

Davido was a featured artist on "Hayya Hayya (Better Together)," the opening tune from the multi-song FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM Official Soundtrack, which also included Trinidad Cardona and AISHA. As a result, Davido became the first musician from Nigeria to appear on a FIFA World Cup single.

Davido released a new song in May 2022 called "Stand Strong" with The Samples Choir. The song, according to the Naija Banquet, departs from the Nigerian singer's typical hop/dance sound. In the song, Davido looks back on his career as a musician and the struggles he faces every day. It also tells the tale of his recovery.  Are We African Yet(A.W.A.Y) is the name of Davido's first yearly festival, which will take place in the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 18, 2022.

David Adedeji Adeleke was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 21, 1992. His mother Vero Adeleke was a university lecturer, while his father Adedeji Adeleke is a business tycoon. Davido is the second son born to his father and the youngest of five children. At the age of 16, he returned to the United States to pursue a degree in business administration at Oakwood University in Alabama. He had previously attended the British International School in Lagos, Nigeria.

While attending Oakwood, Davido acquired musical instruments and began producing beats. He cofounded the musical group KB International with his cousins B-Red and Sina Rambo. Davido relocated to London to improve on his vocals after quitting Oakwood University to devote himself to music full-time. In order to respect his father, Davido decided to suspend his music career after moving back to Nigeria in 2011 and enroll in Babcock University. He received a music degree from Babcock in July 2015 after his father sponsored the school to establish a music department for a single student's inaugural class.

On July 17, Spotify revealed that Davido's songs had received more than 1 billion streams, joining other Nigerian artists including Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Ckay.

Davido is a father to four kids.  His third child's mother, Chioma, was the subject of an earlier engagement.
