"Don't engage in crime" When Seun Egbegbe sees his mother for the first time in six years, what happens?

Olajide Kareem, better known as Seun Egbegbe, is a producer and director for Nollywood who was convicted of fraud and given a six-year prison term in Lagos. He just shared a video of his mother and him reuniting after a six-year separation. Egbegbe was put on remand on February 10 after it was claimed that over the course of two years between 2015 and 2017, he obtained cash under false pretense from no less than 40 Bureaux de Change employees. He was accused of lying to the BDC staff when he claimed to have naira to exchange for foreign currency. Only one of the 44 accusations made against him—Count 19—was proven to be accurate, and as a result, Egbegbe received a punishment. Seun shared the video and praised God for allowing him to meet her. The mother and boy could be seen crying together and cuddling each other in the footage.

Reacting to the video, one Halima wrote, “Stay away from crime”

One Sandyprenuer wrote, “Awwn..she did that little snuggle on his cheeks.🥺 A mother’s love is so pure.”

One _deagram wrote, “He will now value freedom more than anything. Freedom is the most important thing human beings can have.”

Another wrote, “Freedom is very very underated 😢😢, it’s a very keen prayer that nothing comes our way that will make them take our freedom away😢”

One Sauceprince1 wrote, “Freedom at last. Mothers love for her child? I kid you not, it’s the most genuine thing you will ever experience, same as FATHERS. May God reward our parents for their labour of LOVE. And may they not be absent when we start to WIN.”

Mr_dbbk wrote, “He is now a celebrity and camera captures all his steps, we celebrate rubbish and I think this is why many people want to do nasty things to get to the media asap, nasty things sells better here”

The judge approved his release because he had previously served six years and eight months in jail. The police charged the controversial 45-year-old member of the Yoruba film business with fraud in the amount of N39m; correspondingly, $90,000 and £12,550 and N39,098,100. Egbegbe was accused of defrauding the BDC operators while managing the Fuji artists Wale Ayinde, alias Tekoma, and Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma. Unfortunately, more than three years after posting bail, the filmmaker who supported the creation of multiple Yoruba movies under his Ebony Films Productions banner was unable to do so. The former prisoner was initially charged on February 10, 2017, before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, with 36 counts of alleged Advance Fee fraud. On a 44-count accusation, Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf, and Muyideen Shoyombo later joined the two defendants. However, on Tuesday, the court freed Egbegbe after convicting him of just one of the 44 charges that were presented against him. According to Justice Oguntoyinbo, 43 of the 44 count charges were dropped because insufficient evidence was presented to support the claims. The prosecuting team failed, according to the judge, to present evidence for Counts 4, 19, and 21 that was supported by witnesses. The police tampered with the money taken from the accused, the judge added. Additionally, Justice Oguntoyinbo determined that Egbegbe should receive a refund for all of the money that was taken from him as evidence.
