Eid-el-Maulud: FG declares Monday public holiday

 











For this year's Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration to honor the Prophet Muhammad's birth, the Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, October 10, 2022 as a national holiday.

Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, made this proclamation on behalf of the federal government and thanked all Muslims for being present for the event this year, both at home and in the Diaspora.

He urged everyone in Nigeria to adopt the deep spiritual characteristics of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which the Prophet Muhammad exhibited, saying that doing so would ensure peace, security, and harmony in the nation.

Mr. Aregbesola urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to abstain from crime, violence, and other violent behavior. The minister said, "We must show responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race."

The minister urged all Nigerians, and the youth in particular, to embrace the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition toward other people, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class, and ethnicity, and join forces with the President Muhammadu Buhari led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens would be proud of. The minister also called for an end to all divisive tendencies throughout the country.

The minister advised Nigerians to practice security awareness and urged people to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security agency and via the N-Alert application for Android and iOS, stressing that doing so would trigger a rapid response from security officials.

The minister sent his best wishes to Nigerians and all Muslims for a joyous Eid.
