On Tuesday, October 25, Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike shared a passionate chat he had had with his wife, Eberechi Wike.

The governor said as the elections approach and his term as governor comes to an end, he recently told his wife that he no longer has a job as governor and that he has promised her his full attention. He was speaking at a dinner/reception organized in his honor to celebrate the "Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery" that was recently presented to him.

He stated,

"I am leaving, and I am doing so joyfully. I don't look back with remorse. In fact, I promised my wife, "Now that I'm unemployed, you can kiss me till you're weary.









The sixth and current governor of Rivers State is a Nigerian politician and attorney named Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON (born 13 December 1967). He is an Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Rivers State's Obio-Akpor. He received his education at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and is a member of the People's Democratic Party.

From 1999 until 2007, Wike served as the Obio Akpor Local Government Area's Executive Chairman for two terms. On July 14, 2011, he was named Minister of State for Education. After Mrs. Ruqqayatu was fired, Wike was named the acting minister of education. However, he resigned before the end of his term to run for governor of Rivers State. In his place, Viola Onwuliri took over. He selected Ipalibo Banigo, a former secretary to the state government, as his running mate for deputy governor after winning the Rivers State People's Democratic Party primary in 2014.

In the 11 April gubernatorial elections, Wike prevailed over Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party and Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the position. Before the 2023 general election, Wike announced in March 2022 that he would be running for president of Nigeria under the People's Democratic Party's slate. However, Atiku Abubakar defeated him with 371 votes, while Wike received 237 votes, placing him in second place. on May 28 and 29, 2022, during the People's Democratic Party presidential primary held at the MKO ABIOLA National Stadium in Abuja.

Before attending the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Wike attended Government Secondary School Eneka in Obiakpor, Rivers State, where he took his O'level exams (RSUT). Prior to enrolling in law school in 1997, he graduated from RSUT with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Wike graduated from RSUT with a Master of Arts in Political and Administrative Studies.

After being re-elected in 2003, Wike started his political career in Rivers in 1999 as the Executive Chairman of the Obio Akpor Local Government Area. He held this position until 2007. His appointment as Rotimi Amaechi's chief of staff as governor of Rivers State occurred in 2007.  President Goodluck Jonathan named him as the Minister of State for Education in July 2011, and in September 2013, he was elevated to the position of Federal Minister of Education. He left his position as Federal Minister in order to run for governor of Rivers State in the 2015 elections.

In Port Harcourt, he began work on three significant flyovers at the same time during his second stint as governor. The flyovers will be over Garrison, Rumoukoro, and Artillery.
