"I'm Back Actively" -Bola Tinubu Speaks As He Returns To Nigeria

After arriving in Nigeria from the UK, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress' (APC) presidential candidate, made a statement.

After spending 12 days in London, the former governor of Lagos came home on Thursday.

Due to Tinubu's protracted absence, there were questions raised about his whereabouts and his health.

However, after his return, he informed Nigerians in Abuja that their nearly lost optimism had returned.

Asserting that he is "back actively," Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to show patriotism and desist from disparaging their nation.

The trip was excellent, he said. I had a good vacation, and I'm glad to be back in my native country. Nigerians might anticipate an extremely intelligent mental capacity.

"Nigerians should anticipate that the aid they require is available.

"The almost waning optimism has returned. I'm back in action now," he

Nigerian politician and accountant Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu (born March 29, 1952) held the offices of Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007 and Senator for Lagos West during the Third Republic's brief existence. He was selected as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2023 Nigerian presidential election in June 2022.

Tinubu was born and raised in the southwest of Nigeria. After moving to the United States, he attended Chicago State University to study accounting. After moving back to Nigeria in the early 1980s, he worked as an accountant for Mobil Nigeria before joining politics in 1992 as the Social Democratic Party's candidate for the Lagos West senate seat. After the tyrannical Sani Abacha disbanded the Senate in 1993, Tinubu joined the National Democratic Coalition movement and started advocating for the restoration of democracy. Despite being compelled into exile in 1994, Tinubu returned after Abacha's death in 1998 marked the start of the Fourth Republic.

In the first post-transition election for governor of Lagos State, Tinubu of the Alliance for Democracy defeated Dapo Sarumi of the Peoples Democratic Party and Nosirudeen Kekere-Ekun of the All People's Party with a sizable margin. Four years later, he narrowly defeated Funsho Williams of the PDP to win re-election for a second term. Tinubu's two administrations were characterized by his battles with the PDP-run federal government and his attempts to modernize Lagos. He had a significant part in the creation of the All Progressives Congress in 2013 after leaving office in 2007. Tinubu's career has been long and contentious, dogged by allegations of corruption and doubts about the validity of his personal background.

Affidavits state that Tinubu was born on March 29, 1952. Abibatu Mogaji, his mother, was a trader who rose to become the Iyaloja of Lagos State. He attended Children's Home School in Ibadan and St. John's Primary School in Aroloya, Lagos. Later, in 1975, Tinubu traveled to the United States to pursue his studies at Chicago's Richard J. Daley College and Chicago State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the university in 1979.

Throughout his political career, disagreements concerning Tinubu's age, educational background, and name arose as a result of contradictory documentation and assertions from the politician himself. The main controversy was started by anomalies in the certificates Tinubu gave to the Independent National Electoral Commission. There are unproven rumors that Tinubu was born in modern-day Osun State with a different name to a different family. In response, Tinubu claimed Tokunbo Afikuyomi- who was then a senator- accidentally falsified the 1999 submission and the university had merely made an error. Documents submitted prior to Tinubu's running for governor in 1999 falsely stated that he attended Government College, Ibadan for secondary school and that his birth year on record at Chicago State University was 1954, not 1952. In accordance with earlier sworn papers and public pronouncements, Tinubu failed to list the primary or secondary school he attended in documentation submitted to INEC for the presidential election in 2022, reigniting the debate.
