In 2023, Rivers CP meets with candidates and promotes nonviolent campaigning.

 Friday Eboka, the commissioner of police for Rivers State, has advised the state's candidates from all political parties to conduct their campaigns peacefully. Eboka made this statement while speaking at a security and stakeholders conference at the Police Command in Port Harcourt. Participants included parties and the INEC. Eboka emphasized the need of the parties following the rules and abstaining from abusive language and statements that could inflame the polity before the polls. He asked the parties to submit their campaign schedules while asserting that security organizations not recognized by the constitution would not be involved in campaigns or election day activities.

Eboka announced the creation of a commission to examine the dates and locations selected for the campaigns in order to rule out potential conflicts. To streamline the timetables in advance, the CP advised that "all the parties should figure out their timetables, submit them, and send their representatives. "They should have a meeting, sort things out, and make sure that no political parties will collide on a specific day or in a particular location. "We will encourage you to choose another day and hour to prevent a clash if you don't do that and submit your application and we discover that someone else has applied for the same day and same town." Some candidates spoke out about security concerns and other issues, urging the police and other security services to take proactive measures.
