Meet The Woman Who Has Not Cut Her Nails For 25 Years

A woman admitted that she hasn't trimmed her nails in 25 years. Now that her nails are longer than ever before, the Minnesota woman has shattered the record. She reportedly finds it difficult to open cans or button up her slacks, according to Metro UK. Due to her long talons not fitting in the cubicles, 64-year-old Diana Armstrong is likewise unable to use public restrooms. The world record holder last filed her nails in 1997, a quarter of a century ago.

She pledged never to trim her claws once more after her daughter tragically passed away at age 16 following an asthma attack. After Diana's untimely demise, the heartbroken mother couldn't bring herself to allow anybody else take care of Diana's nails because the adolescent would do them every weekend. Diana claims she even left her work in order to concentrate on growing her enormous nails, which currently total 42 feet and ten inches. The length of a school bus is that.

Her right thumbnail's lengthy, four foot, six inch long nail is her longest. Maintaining Diana's nails is a lot of work, and if she feels like it, even applying a coat of lacquer might take a lot of time.

She admitted to Guinness that painting her toenails takes her four to five hours, not including the time it takes to file them with the woodworking tool.

It's been roughly 22 years since I last visited a nail salon. They'd be like, "Oh no," when they see me approaching, Diana said in jest.

Diana enjoys having long nails, but they do have some drawbacks, such as making it difficult to unlock the fridge and making it impossible for her to drive because her nails don't fit in the car.

The record-breaker finds it difficult to pick items up off the ground as well.

She said Guinness, adding that she frequently uses her feet to pick things up, "If I have to pick up money off the floor, I can pick up bills, but if I drop change on the floor, that will simply stay down there."

I don't need a knife; I can just pop open a soda can. I used to drive a car, but I had to reach my hand out the window, so I don't anymore," she admitted in a Daily Star interview.

And I have to use the largest stall in public restrooms since my nails are typically longer than the ones in the smaller stalls.

While her kids initially didn't understand why she decided to grow them out, they eventually warmed up to the idea.

Diana's daughter Rania said, "When mother told us the back story, it kind of shifted my thoughts towards it."

"Because I missed my sister just as much as she did," I said. I'll accept it if that's how she's holding on to her.

Considering that Latisha was the last person to do my nails, Diana said, "I think she [Latisha] would be proud of me.

"My kid is who I think of when I grow my nails," the speaker said.

Diana claims that when she is out in public, she frequently receives questions from onlookers who want to snap pictures of her long, beautiful nails.

She used to feel embarrassed by all the attention she got, but now she doesn't mind.

The background to Diana's record is both intriguing and painful, and Diana's will to uphold her daughter's legacy in her own special way is motivating, Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, remarked.

Family is everything to Diana, and she is fortunate to have built a strong support system around her. This is necessary when each fingernail is longer than a ski pole.

Former world record holder Ayanna Williams of Texas chose to clip her nails last year after having them grow out for three decades.

Diana, though, insisted that she would never give up hers. My nails are a part of me, she continued. I will never be able to cut them off.
