Mercy Aigbe accused her mother of witchcraft and sets her house on fire.

 Dr. Patience, Mercy Aigbe's older sister, has taken extreme measures to vent her wrath toward her mother by setting fire to her mother's house. Their quarrel stems from Dr. Patience's assertion that their mother is a witch and her use of her witchcraft activity against her in favor of her other beloved daughter, Mercy. She added that the old woman refused to help her pay back a N800,000 loan that she had borrowed and was required to refund. According to rumors, Dr. Pat set fire to the residence on Adebayo Mokuolu Street in Lagos, which is directly across from Anthony Village Recreation Center. The house was totally demolished and nothing could be rescued. The house, according to the locals, belonged to the deceased partner of the elderly woman's mother, with whom she had just one son. Her home was in the mini-duplicate that his father had given to her son, who also happened to be Dr. Pat's half-brother. The building is independent from the front-facing main structure, which also houses additional apartments. Thankfully, the fire was contained and did not spread to the other flats, which belonged to the deceased man's other children from a previous marriage. After demolishing the building, Dr. Pat reported herself to the police.

Mercy reportedly started setting the house on fire while their mother was beside her. Later, Mercy drove over to the house in a black SUV to assess the property's damage. The general public's belief that Dr. Pat had intended to burn the old woman in the house if she had been there that morning was confirmed when they overheard her yelling that she would kill their mother before starting the fire. Locals claim that she has been exhibiting signs of mental instability for a while and believe that her mother is the one holding her back. The children of the deceased man—to whom the old woman was married—are now worried that she would return and further tarnish their father's property if they don't take action against Dr. Pat right now. Mercy's mother currently has nowhere to go because the house was entirely destroyed. On Friday, September 30, Dr. Pat's noise and screams as she went on the rampage and damaged her mother's car woke up the neighborhood.

Her arthritic mother waited inside while her furious daughter tore up her car and yelled at her mother. The elderly woman later returned to check on the damage done to her car's windscreen, wipers, and front and back lights after her daughter had left. Many others stood in shock as the obviously furious woman smashed the car, cursing and calling her mother a "destiny stealer."  She had given the house over to Mercy's because she believed her life was in danger, which may assist to explain why she wasn't at home when Dr. Pat arrived and ignited the fire. According to insiders, Mercy and Dr. Pat are actually half-sisters who share a mother but have different fathers.

Reacting to the story,  Amanda Chisom wrote, “She is just on the brink of psychological breakdown. A gynaecologist is saying her glory was used. Used to do what?? Is she expecting to be as popular as her sister who is her an actress?? I hope they sue her and make her pay. At her age, her mother should be paid her debts , who gives birth to a child and still finance them to this age?? What is there to like about a child giving you trouble at her age.”

Recounting how it happened in her family, one Lolafgod wrote, “What some parents’ especially mothers will cause among their own children….same thing my mum did among my siblings…we dont talk…our kids dont talk..good for my mental health.Parents should learn to broker peace,love and unity among their children!”
