Oyedepo's Church Fired Pastor Files Lawsuit, Demands N350 Million

Pastor Domino Mbang has filed a lawsuit to contest his discharge from his position as the area pastor of Living Faith Church (also known as Winners' Chapel) in Palm Street Assembly, Atakpa, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Mbang filed a lawsuit against the church in Calabar's National Industrial Court, demanding N350 million in damages. The clergyman, who identified himself as a University of Calabar graduate in mathematics and statistics, claimed that some members of the church were persecuting him. Mbang, the claimant, filed suit under number NICN/CA/25/2022 against Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor Adebisi Aboluwade, and two other defendants on behalf of Living Faith Church Worldwide Incorporated. According to the applicant, he did so to seek redress and to let the church's leadership know how he was treated.

I spent more than ten years attending the church before I began my schooling to become a pastor, he stated. At the very least, Bishop David Oyedepo, our general overseer, considers me to be his son because I have served in the ministry for more than two decades.

Mbang asserted that he was wrongfully fired by a cabal made up of Pastor Tamunotoye Chukunda and the state pastor Adeolu Adewumi. He claimed to be an area pastor overseeing 16 church branches in Calabar South.

According to the church operational mandate, a pastor must first get a letter of inquiry, be required to appear before a disciplinary committee to address relevant questions, and then receive three warnings before receiving a termination of appointment letter. In my instance, nothing like that occurred.

"In addition to the question that was asked, I received a notice of termination right away without having the chance to appear before a disciplinary panel. Without following the proper procedures, the cabals led by Pastor Adeolu and Pastor Chukunda conspired to expel them.

"The Mandate Book functions as the organization's constitution; sadly, it was never upheld, possibly because they didn't like the way I looked.

"We are all Bishop Oyedepo's children in the Lord, so neither of them can claim to be more of his godsons than I am. I never received a query letter. The only thing the cabals ever sent me was a letter of dismissal, and my paycheck has been suspended for the past year.

Mbang bemoaned, "As I speak to you, I can't even afford to pay my rent, or buy food, clothing, or medicine for my kids.

However, a church representative refuted all of the claims.

He received a question due of his inappropriate behavior. The official told Leadership newspaper, "We are a responsible organization, and we couldn't have fired a man of God in the way he alleged.

On October 26, the case will be heard.
