View the video proving El-Rufai lied on Peter Obi's election-related detention.

A video uploaded by Twitter user @Tutsy22 demonstrates how Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai stated that Mr. Peter Obi, a presidential contender for the Labour Party, was to blame for his 2013 arrest in Anambra. In his Monday talk to the Arewa Joint Committee, which was organized for presidential aspirants, El-Rufai stated he would have detained Peter Obi in Kaduna State just as he was reportedly treated unfairly in Anambra State.

"I want to explain that I went to Anambra state for my party to watch the election, and Peter Obi, who was the Governor, put me under house arrest for 48 hours," he stated. He is traveling to Kaduna to campaign, and in addition to other security forces, I have the First Mechanized Division of the Army stationed there. However, I will not arrest him since Northerners are decent people.

However, a Twitter user named Adetutu Balogun tweeted an old video that showed El-Rufai accusing Abuja authorities—not Obi—of being to blame for his purported house detention.

"I left my hotel room to go for my breakfast and I was blocked by three SSS officers with AK-47, warning me that they have directive from Abuja to restrict me to my room," El-Rufai was heard saying in the video. Additionally, Obi had claimed that he wasn't to blame for Nasir El-detention. Rufai's He claims that as governor, he lacks the authority to command the SSS.
