Goodluck Jonathan, a former president, recently celebrated his 65th birthday.

 









Yesterday, November 20, is Goodluck Jonathan's 65th birthday, and his family has planned a celebration.

Prince Godswill, the son-in-law of Jonathan Edward referred to the former Nigerian President as a "role model" and shared images from the celebration.










Political figure Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, GCFR, GCON, was born in Nigeria on November 20, 1957. He presided over Nigeria from 2010 to 2015. He was the first sitting president in Nigerian history to concede an election loss after losing to former military chief of state General Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. Prior to that, he served as Governor of oil-rich Bayelsa State from 2005 to 2007 and as Vice President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010 under the leadership of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

Goodluck Jonathan was born on November 20, 1957, to an Ijaw Christian canoe maker family in Ogbia, Bayelsa state. He was born in Otuoke, the son of Eunice Ayi Ebele Jonathan, a retired farmer, and Lawrence Ebele Jonathan, a canoe maker.  He went to Christian elementary and high schools.

He graduated from the University of Port Harcourt with a doctorate in zoology, a master's degree in hydrobiology and fisheries biology, and a bachelor's degree in zoology with second-class honors. From 1982 to 1998, he was a professor at the  rivers state college of education.

He held jobs as a lecturer, an environmental protection officer, and an education inspector prior to entering politics in 1998. Involvement with the newly formed People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the late 1990s marked the start of his political career.
