Kashim Shettima, an APC vice presidential candidate, refers to Peter Obi as a comedy character. Giringori

Kashim Shettima, the APC Vice Presidential candidate, has compared Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to the comedy character Giringori.

Shettima stated this recently at a political gathering. Shettima can be heard saying in a video circulating on social media:

"Obi Peter Giringori. Giringori is his name. Giringori is my pick, but he has nothing to offer aside from dubious statistics."

Giringori was a character in the now-canceled TV show New Masquerade, played by veteran actor James Iroha, who passed away in 2012.

Peter Gregory Obi CON (born July 19, 1961) is a Nigerian politician and businessman who served as governor of Anambra from March to November 2006, February to May 2007, and June 2007 to March 2014. After defecting from the PDP, he became the Labour Party's candidate for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election in May 2022. Obi's presidential campaign has been described as populist, with many young Nigerians dubbed "Obi-dients" supporting him.

Obi ran for governor as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in 2003, but his main opponent was declared the winner illegally. Obi was declared the winner in 2006 after three years of legal battles and took office in March 2006. He was impeached in November of that year, but his impeachment was overturned, and he was re-elected in February of the following year.

Obi was deposed during the Anambra State gubernatorial election in 2007, and the judiciary once again intervened, ruling that he should be allowed to serve out his entire four-year term. He was re-elected to a second term in 2010. Improvements in state finances, education, and healthcare were hallmarks of Obi's.

Peter Obi was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, on July 19, 1961. He finished his secondary school education at Christ the King College in Onitsha. He was admitted to the University of Nigeria in 1980 and graduated in 1984 with a B.A. (Hons)
