Dear new actors expecting to blow… – Actress Wumi Toriola writes open letter

Wumi Toriola, a Yoruba Nollywood actress, has written an open letter to aspiring actors who want to 'blow'.

Wumi Toriola stated on Monday, December 19, that her advice is not limited to those in the film industry but applies to all professions.

Staying hungry by being committed and dedicated, according to the thespian, is the key to excelling without expecting to become popular overnight. Wumi Toriola said:

"Dear New Actors, expecting to BLOW with that ONE movie by some big director/producer is not really effective anymore - in my opinion. I think the goal for every new actor is to become a household name overtime and that takes a lot of dedication and long term commitment. A key factor is also frequently observed, particularly in these parts. A lot of our "popular actors" (male/female) are really not popular when you check it. Conversations for later.

My advice is to continue pushing for more opportunities to be seen as much as possible, to take all types of roles to broaden your range, to treat every role as your last - no matter how big or small, to continue going to auditions (even some of your big stars are still auditioned), and finally, don't be deceived by the "Cinema Faces" narrative... Na beans full that pot! Instead, take every other platform seriously, such as Rok, YouTube, Dstv, and so on.

My point is, you haven't arrived until you become a household name. Pay your dues and hope the stars will align in your favor in due time. Stay hungry for more until then!"

“Goodmorning New Acts.

I came across this from @abinibi

And he wrote”advice no one asked for”

I decided to share with you all in same light

This might encourage someone

Someone said “this advice is not only meant for actors, but also spread accross all vocations.”
