Popular musician Oladapo Oyebanjo, often known as Dbanj, was released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission after spending nearly 72 hours in detention (ICPC). Recall that D'banj was detained by the anti-graft organization on Tuesday due to charges of fraud surrounding the N-Power initiative. According to a recent update, the singer was freed on Friday, December 9th, in the afternoon. The ICPC may later issue a summons to the performer, though. The singer cooperated with the Commission during its probe, according to the artist's attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi, who spoke to Premium Times. While pointing out that Dbanj was released on his own recognizance, Mr. Olajengbesi did not disclose whether the ICPC had given the singer administrative bail.
He added that the singer was not linked to any proof of fraudulent activities by the ICPC. Nothing accusatory was discovered on him. When he recognized himself, he was let go. Since we have always maintained that D'banj is innocent of the accusations made against him, we now anticipate the ICPC to issue a letter of clearance to him," he said. According to a source who spoke with Sahara Reporters, the musician "plans to come out shortly." Remember how D'banj was defended by his attorney from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission? (ICPC). The panel claimed that the Oliver Twist singer had often been "ignored and not honored" when asked to appear before a group of investigators.
In a statement on Wednesday, D'banj's assistant team head for litigation at Law Corridor, Maryam Musa, stated that it is company policy for D'banj and his management to refrain from business transactions "unless they are genuine, well recorded, and achievable in law." However, the attorney stated that the ICPC was still looking into claims of money being diverted from N-Power. Dbanj sent letters through his attorneys to the commission informing them of his itinerary in South Africa and promising to visit the Commission when he returned, Musa continued, even though the ICPC had officially invited him to participate in the investigation a month earlier.
