Tiwa Savage revives acting skill, directs new first movie

 









Tiwa Savage, the Afrobeats Superstar, has made a bold jump into acting as the lead and co-director of a new film.

The singer of "Somebody's Son" revealed on Wednesday that she would make her acting debut in the film "Water and Garri," her first ever.

The movie Water and Garri is based on Tiwa's 2021 EP of the same name, claims media site Screen Daily.

In the film, which is set in the Ghanaian city of Cape Coast, Tiwa portrays a fashion designer with a promising career in the United States who returns to her native continent of Africa to deal with the guilt she left behind.

Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde are standing by the singer, who is 49 years old.

She posted a photo of herself on the set and with the filmmakers to Instagram and captioned it, "This is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first calling and joint-directing outing with @meji Alabi, the GOAT.

Tiwatope Savage Listen, also known as Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress who was born on February 5, 1980. She was born in Isale Eko and moved to London when she was 11 years old to pursue her secondary education. She started her music career five years later by providing backing vocals for performers like Mary J. Blige and George Michael. Savage joined Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009 after finishing his studies at Berklee College of Music and competing on The X Factor UK. Savage relocated back to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012 after being motivated by the expansion of the Nigerian music industry. She appeared in the 2012 compilation Solar Plexus released by the label.
