“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes,” GWR said in a statement released on Tuesday, one month after Baci’s adventurous cooking.
A few weeks ago, the Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, commonly known as Hilda Baci, set a record for the longest marathon cooking session at 100 hours.
The 26-year-old Nigerian chef worked in the kitchen for four days, starting on Thursday, May 11, and finishing on Monday, May 15, producing almost 100 pots of food.
People who cheered for the young chef during the cook-a-thon competition, which was held at the Amore Gardens in Lekki, recorded recordings of themselves doing so.
With this certification, Hilda has now surpassed Indian chef Lata Tondon, who held the record for the longest continuous cooking session in 2019 with 87 hours and 45 minutes, following the 100th hour.
